Journalist, science writer and tv anchorman - the first  Tg2's anchorman, actually. 
During the school years, he wasn't exactly the teacher's pupil, and actually never completed the undergraduate course. Nevertheless,  he earned 9 Honoris causa degrees over time.

Curator of the earliest Italian Popsci Tv show ("The world of Quark", "Super Quark", "Quark Pills", "Superquark Special"), he first aired on March 18th, 1981, more than 35 years ago. 

He founded CICAP - Comitato Italiano per il Controllo delle Affermazioni sulle Pseudoscienze, (Italian Committee for the Investigation of Claims of the Pseudosciences) aiming at promoting scientific education and critical thinking, as well as investigating on the actual existence of the so-called paranormal phenomena.

He started taking piano lessons at 7, and he's a talented jazz pianist.
In his own words: “In my tv shows, I always tried to establish a connection with the general public, either with an informal language, funny examples or jokes, dismissing all that pretentious seriousness the Italian intellighenzia seems to be so attached to. I think contents should be serious, not the format”.
